Birds – a Haiku

Written 2002-2003, 8th grade

Birds whistle a lot.

     They’re singing to their babies

          To chirp them to sleep.

    Amber,
That’s such a sweet picture your painted with your words in this poem about the mother bird singing to her baby birds. I hope you keep writing things for me to read!

I love your Haiku! You should come into the shelter and tell your poem to our puppy named “Haiku.” Your poems are fun to read but I most enjoyed your story about the rescue dog Amy and her snow rescue companion ashley. I would like to read more of their adventures together. Thank you for your great poetry and short story. Sadie from the animal shelter :)
